Fishing Report from Bass Lake: July 16, 2008   Heads out on the water for a half-day guiding trip with a client and his son to try and catch a few fish. Was a calm start to the morning I thought I might get a few topwater bites to start the day. I fished some shallow water pencil reeds but had no success with topwaters or senkos. The wind started to pick up so I thought I would see if I could get any quick fish off of a set of docks that usually produce but again no fish. Thought that the shallow fish might be off so I went out a bit deeper. I fished 7ft-10ft of water with a spinnerbait and a wacky worm. We did get a few on the spinnerbait but the wacky worm was far better for producing fish. We caught about a dozen solid Largemouth on the wacky worm but the wind got really strong and we moved. Went to the other side of the lake and fished a small rock shoal, again with the wacky worm (senko) and got into a nice school of smallies.   Unexpectedly slow start but the fish came on mid morning and didn't shut down.

Total for the day: 12 Largemouth, 6 Smallmouth Time Fished: 8:00am - 2:00pm

Niagara River
Thought I would send you a report from last weekend.. Dan Ayton-Lee and I went to fish the Niagara for the weekend.
Had a great trip Landed 60+ smallies on saturday from 1-3lbs working tubes around boulders and a surpries 5lbs steelhead.
Sunday we boated 4 walleye in the 4lbs range in a hour and then worked on some more smallies. That evening we boated 30 fish in a half hour between 3 of us, including a nice pair of back to back 20"er's I landed on slammers.  Really scrappy fish in that current.

A couple of really nice fish. Scott's was almost 26" long and had a huge scar on the side. Unfortunately it was our practice day and we could not get anything like it in the next two days and finished in the middle of the pack. Both fish were on bucktail jigs, in about 4 ft of water.
