GLOUCHESTER POOL |
| This is a very popular fishing lake, actually two lakes being Little Lake and Glouchester Pool which is the larger of the two. There is a launch ramp at the end of South Port Severn Rd and that is where most anglers lauch. Parking however is quite limited. This is part of the Trent Severn system and so good maps are available. Lots of variety, Bass, Pike, Crappie, Musky and a few walleyes make up the catch. Bass are about equal numbers but most guys will target largemouth. Lots of shallow cover, lily pads, stumps, docks as well as numerous millfoil weed beds located in 6 to 9 ft of water to hold the largemouth. Smallmouth can be found in scattered weed and rocky areas as well as numerous deeper shoals. Largemouth tend to make up the majority of the fish weighed( results 2007 tournament) but as in most of the lakes many areas hold both species. A fun lake to fish as weather is rarely an issue with numerous islands to hide behind and a great variety of fishing locations. |
| May 18th, 2008. Out for a few hours in the morning. Lots of pike to 28" or so on jerkbaits. Pike were very aggresive and were literally swallowing the baits. Most of the fish in 8ft or less around emerging weeds. Scott |
