Casting Kids 2007
It was another fun filled two day event on March 31st and April 1st 2007. The Barrie Bassmasters held their annual Casting Kids at the Kozlov Centre in Barrie. This year we had a great turn out with a two day total of 56 contestants.
It was an action packed two days filled with laughter and excitement, as the kids of the age groups starting at 7-10 and 11-14 battled it out for the top spot as the 2007 regional champion. After a few wild casts and several practice pitches and flips we had our champions.
On day one Cole Chantler traveled all the way from Midhurst to flip, pitch and cast his way to an impressive total of 140 points out of 150. Cole will be in the 7-10 age groups. Also Eamonn Corrigan in the age group 11-14 from the Midhurst area demands respect with a total score of 110 points.
On day two of the event we had two that also rose to the top. In the age group 7-10 a persistent and eager young man Paul Spenceley from Barrie. Paul determined to be on top dug deep to pull out his win with a total score of 120 points. In the age group 11-14 it was Kaily Powell from Washago that took the top prize with a total score of 120 points also.
I would like to congratulate all the contestants and the winners of this year Casting Kids. I believe everybody had fun and now the final four will move on to the provincials on September 8th 2007 at the Bass Pro Shop in Vaughan Mills. I wish them good luck and good casting.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Anna Webb at the Kozlov Centre for all her hard work and helping the Barrie Bassmaster in promoting this year’s event. Also all the corporate sponsors with out your help this could not have taken place.
Thanks again and see you next year.
