BARRIE BASSMASTER'S MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION |
Welcome to Barrie Bassmasters membership information page. Barrie Bassmasters had 57 members in 2009. This is the largest club in the Ontario Bass Federation Nation and allows us to run a qualifying series consisting of 7 qualifiers and a classic. In 2009 we averaged 15 boats per tournament, with 2 members in each boat. Cost per tournament remains at $40.00 and is the same for both boaters and non boaters. Annual membership dues are $50.00 per year and are for the calender year. This payment registers you with the BASS Federation Nation, provides you with a monthly copy of BASS Times magazine(mailed to your home address), registers you with the Ontario Bass Federation Nation and gives you free membership in BASS Insider which provides all sorts of premium content at www.bassmaster.com. When you join the club you also have to become a member of BASS. You can join directly by web or phone (407 5662277) or you can pay the treasurer at the club and he will register you. Cost will be $30.00 Canadian in 2009. This will provide you with a monthly subscription to BASS magazine mailed directly to your address. We are now accepting memberships for 2010. YOU DO NOT NEED A BOAT TO JOIN AS A NON BOATER. We hold monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of the month at the Army Navy Club, 7 George Street, Barrie Ontario at 7:30. Everyone is welcome to attend whether they are members or not. If you have any other questions contact Bill at btodd56@gmail.com Associated Members: If you are a member of another OBFN club you are eligible to join Barrie Bassmasters as an associated member. ROAD TO THE BASSMASTER'S CLASSIC Each year every member of the Barrie Bassmaster's is eligible to compete in the Ontatio Bass Federation Nation provincial qualifier. This is a 2 day tournament with about 100 participants and the top 12 plus an alternate form Team Ontario for the following year. This team travels to the Eastern Divisional Tournament to compete against teams from the other Eastern Divisional States. There is usually little cost involved to the individual as most of the cost is picked up by the OBFN. The Divisional tournament is really two tournaments in one. The team with the highest weight wins the most money but one member of each team wins a trip to the Federation Nationals (again with most cost covered). The Nationals are usually held in late fall, somewhere in the southern states(2007 in Florida). Here you compete as an individual in a boat provided by Triton, for both the official practice (usually 2 days) and the 3 day tournament. Although the goal is to finish first, in reality all you have to do is beat the 7 other State Representatives in the Eastern Division. If you do this you are bound for the Classic and a shot at $500,000. Barrie Bassmasters has had numerous members qualify for Team Ontario, including at least one for the last 5 years. Although it may appear that a boater would have a great advantage, 3 of the last 6 qualifiers were non-boaters. In 2008, Gerry Heels represented the club at the Eastern Divisionals. In 2009 John Whyte and Ryan Johnson will represent the club at the Eastern Divisionals which will be held on Lake Simcoe. |
