Actually two lakes, Little Lake and Gloucester Pool commected by two narrow channels, both speed zones. This is a very popular lake for Barrie Bassmasters and we have had a tournament there every year for as long as I can remember. It is a very friendly lake to fish with lots of islands and bays, so wind is rarely an issue. There is lots of variety here with a great population of both largemouth and smallies. Lots of lily pads and docks as well as deeper weeds for the largemouth, small rocky humps and islands for the smallies although in many areas the bass are mixed and you may get either on any cast. Very clear water. Lots of other fish as well, lots of pike and crappie, some muskies and the ocassional walleye (so I am told). There is a launch at the end of South Port Severn Road, but parking is quite limited. You can also launch at Bush's Marina where our tournaments are usually held now.

September 7 2009

Got out on the water at 7:30am, outside temp 59F, water temp 71F, I noticed the water was still very warm, most likely from the 7th straight beautiful 78F day in a row. Started in 9 feet of water over a very large weed flat thinking I could entice some aggressive fish to hit a fluke and within 20 minutes they were on it like they haven't eaten in a week.

1st fish was a decent 2lb Smallie, I kept fishing along this flat, 20 minutes later I see a huge swirl behind my fluke, a split second later another brown fish rolls over and inhales the bait, a solid 3lb Smallie. Next cast I had the fluke about 10 feet away from the boat on the retrieve and this pig devours the lure, ends up being a beautiful 4lb Smallie. Only 1 Largemouth caught today on the fluke, roughly 2.5bs, they were not feeding as aggressively as the Smallmouth it seemed, they might have been hiding in cover away from the intense sun.

All fish were caught between 7:30 - 10:30am, as soon as the sun got higher in the sky everything totally shut down, you could see the fish but they were just roaming not interested in eating. I slowed down a tad and threw a wacky worm and 1/8oz tube for about an hour and a half but that didn't work. Ended up off the water at 12:30pm after 2 hours of nothingness and being baked by the sun without wind.
